This song makes me think of a father who's saying goodbye to a daughter. The daughter's either deceased or moving away or getting married. "I can't change my mind I knew all the time she'd go But that's a choice I made long ago"

This is the father's realization that he's always known this day was coming, but he still feels sad about it.

@rattler02 This. This song is about the love between a father and daughter. I loved this song the first time I heard it. Fast forward a few years in life and I am now a father. I've always felt the inference that the girl is an intimate relationship was a bit too obvious. And really there is no reference to intimacy in the song, unless I am incredibly obtuse. Now whenever I hear this song, it brings a tear to my eye because I think of my four year old daughter (first born) who will crush my heart...
