I think the thoughts on this song so far have taken parts of the song as obviously as possible, and ignored other parts.
Certainly there stands something to be said for not feeling like you're good enough, but the line about being a loser comes on the heals of "the man you loved devoured". It seems a sort of testament to not being who he once was.
Then there's the blatant cry for help of "help me up with a pair of wings..."
This song is so much more than self-pity and self-loathing. Certainly, there may be elements of those feelings, but it seems like a self-reflection that runs much deeper than that.
I'd love to hear Matt's comments on this song though.
