I have doubts in the part of the serial killer. Maybe, as Jim is a clear nihilist, is a metaphore of death, the only thing that will happen for sure in our lives.

@Nirvanna It's "An actor out on loan," not "An actor out alone." It's a poetic reference to the old studio system, when actors were under contract to one of the major studios. Sometime, another studio wanted to use a certain actor for their movie, so they would negotiate with the studio which the actor worked for, to release him or her from the contract for that one film only.
