EKS MUSIK, I think you're right about Serj not singing "God." I just watched a youtube video of an old performance of this by SOAD, and he definitely was singing "God" then, and it sounds much different now. I don't understand the song now if he sings "Girl" though, not singing "God" seems to completely change the meaning.
