Feels Like Tonight Lyrics

First of all, this is a powerful song no matter what you believe the lyrics to mean.

I truly believe this song is about making amends with God -- the broken sinner reaching out to God (the "you" in the song being God). If any of you have the music video, this meaning will show through. First, it starts with the camera pointed up into the sky (heaven). Throughout, watch how many times Daughtry looks up (towards heaven). I counted 15... the longest being at the end of the video when he walks away from the camera. It's as if he's singing directly to God. He also opens (or lifts) his hand in praise as believers often do when they're worshipping the Lord in music or prayer: 0:21 - opens right hand off mic 1:00 - his left hand 1:03-1:06 - raises his left arm while looking upward 1:41-1:44 - "From the moment you came into my life, You showed me what's right." During this shot, he has his left hand raised (index finger practically pointed upward) and he again looks up. 2:06-2:07 - raises left hand again in praise

The cinematography of the clouds racing by, IMHO, displays God's receptiveness and/or the excitement that a sinner is repenting (Luke 15:10).

THE LYRICS: "You believed me, in every single lie. But I, I failed you this time." -- man thinks he can fool/lie/hide things from God, but now he's admitting he's failed God

"I was chasing, And nothing was all I found. From the moment you came into my life, You showed me what's right." -- he searched for something to fill the void that only God can fill. He only found worldly possessions and relationships that fail and don't last ("nothing"); not eternal, lasting ones ("...what's right")

"I never felt like this before. Just when I leave, I'm back for more." -- When he leaves (finishes prayer, studying Bible, or maybe he transgresses) he longs to be in communion with God again. His life is so changed that his focus is on heavenly things/actions... things that glorify. "Nothing else here seems to matter." -- "here" is Earth

"In these ever-changing days, You're the one thing that remains." -- the Bible states that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. The one thing that "remains" unchanging in an ever-changing world. Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8

Great song & video!
