You, you got me
Thinking it'll be all right you, you told me
"Come and take a look inside."
You believed me, in every single lie
But I, I failed you this time

And it feels like tonight
I can't believe I'm broken inside
Can't you see that there's nothing that I wanna do
But try to make it up to you?
And it feels like tonight, tonight

I was waiting
For the day you'd come around
I was chasing
But nothing was all I found
From the moment you came into my life
You showed me what's right

And it feels like tonight
I can't believe I'm broken inside
Can't you see that there's nothing that I wanna do
But try to make it up to you?
And it feels like tonight

I never felt like this before
Just when I leave, I'm back for more
Nothing else here seems to matter
In these ever-changing days
You're the one thing that remains
I could stay like this forever

And it feels like tonight
I can't believe I'm broken inside
Can't you see that there's nothing that I wanna do
But try to make it up to you?
And it feels like tonight, tonight, tonight

Cause there's nothing that I wanna do
But try to make it up to you
And it feels like tonight, tonight

This song tells how a person feels like at the moment. I recently had a close guy friend who I did and share everything with. We were so close, love all the same things, had so much in common. We had a miscommunication, and everything just blew up. I miss him...and i found this song on his page, after I had sent him a message after a month of not talking to him. I think this tells how he feels at the moment.. So I guess I am the girl in this song. :(

"You believed me, in every single lie. But I failed you this time." -No matter how much he lies to her, she always believes that he is someone better....

"And it feels like tonight, I can't belive I'm broken inside. Cant you see that there's nothing I wanna do, but try to make it up to you?" -There's nothing else more that he wants to do then to take all the things he's done and said back and make it up to her....but looks like its hard for him too, don't wanna give up his pride.

"I was waiting for the day you come around. I was chasing and nothing was all i found." -Whatever issues they had, he was waiting for her to come around and tell him everything was okay first...but she didnt, and even though now that she finally did, no matter how much he wants to make things better, it seems like its way too late..."

"From the moment you came into my life, you showed me what's right." -Since the day he's met her she always knew exactly who he was and she taught him a lot about himself that he didn't know exist.

"I never felt like this before. Just when i leave, I'm back for more. NOthing else here seems to matter In these ever-chaging days You're the only thing that remains." -He's never felt like that about someone before...everytime he thinks its over between them, somehow it only feels back to come back for more, because no matter how rough it is, theres something good and everlasting about it. And even though shes gone, nothing new in his life seems to matter...shes the one thing that still remains true in his life.

fredflyer, i've never really thought of it like that before. But when i think about it, a lot of chris's songs have a religious meaning to them. And i had never really noticed the things in the video that you mentioned, other than him looking to the sky and the moving clouds. So thanks for giving me that outlook on the song, and like you said, no matter what the writer wrote the song about it's very powerful

I love this song. It kind of reminds me of my ex boyfriend. He lied to me constantly, until i couldn't believe him anymore. I could honestly tell he would try, but it just never worked out in his favor. I took him back time and time again, until he was left "broken inside".

    This song is great.

I agree with Blackjack, this is one of the best songs on the album.

I can connect with this song, i am probably not right, but i think that the guy in this song has previously lied in a lot of relationships, he lied to make himself look better. And he did it without very much thought.

But now he found a girl that he really likes, but he previously lied to her, now he wants to make things right so he can still be with her.

I know. Wrong. Thats just my personal feelings. This song is awesome.

I think its about a guy who has made alot of bad decisions in his life, but has met a girl that he completely falls in love with. But he has previously lied to her and is "tryin to make it up to [her]" He's tellin her that tonight he's turning his life around because nothing in his life matters anymore except her.

First of all, this is a powerful song no matter what you believe the lyrics to mean.

I truly believe this song is about making amends with God -- the broken sinner reaching out to God (the "you" in the song being God). If any of you have the music video, this meaning will show through. First, it starts with the camera pointed up into the sky (heaven). Throughout, watch how many times Daughtry looks up (towards heaven). I counted 15... the longest being at the end of the video when he walks away from the camera. It's as if he's singing directly to God. He also opens (or lifts) his hand in praise as believers often do when they're worshipping the Lord in music or prayer: 0:21 - opens right hand off mic 1:00 - his left hand 1:03-1:06 - raises his left arm while looking upward 1:41-1:44 - "From the moment you came into my life, You showed me what's right." During this shot, he has his left hand raised (index finger practically pointed upward) and he again looks up. 2:06-2:07 - raises left hand again in praise

The cinematography of the clouds racing by, IMHO, displays God's receptiveness and/or the excitement that a sinner is repenting (Luke 15:10).

THE LYRICS: "You believed me, in every single lie. But I, I failed you this time." -- man thinks he can fool/lie/hide things from God, but now he's admitting he's failed God

"I was chasing, And nothing was all I found. From the moment you came into my life, You showed me what's right." -- he searched for something to fill the void that only God can fill. He only found worldly possessions and relationships that fail and don't last ("nothing"); not eternal, lasting ones ("...what's right")

"I never felt like this before. Just when I leave, I'm back for more." -- When he leaves (finishes prayer, studying Bible, or maybe he transgresses) he longs to be in communion with God again. His life is so changed that his focus is on heavenly things/actions... things that glorify. "Nothing else here seems to matter." -- "here" is Earth

"In these ever-changing days, You're the one thing that remains." -- the Bible states that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. The one thing that "remains" unchanging in an ever-changing world. Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8

    Great song & video!

I agree with everyone on this one. The song's beautiful and powerful. I liked what everyone said, up until fredflyer's comment. I never thought about it that way, and I love that idea. I looked up the video and I could see what you meant. Thank you for sharing that with us.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline

Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
