I personally think it just is:
"Jesus don't want me for a sunbeam,
Cause sunbeams are not made like me,"
Jesus doesn't want me cause I'm not a good enough.
by that i think they mean 'I'm not perfect, I'm a sinner, i suck" in not so many words.
"And don't expect me to cry,
For all the reasons you had to die,
Don't ever ask your love of me"
I think it's "I'm not gonna cry for the reason you died because i don't care or believe it. and Don't ask me to love you because i don't want to.'
