Then he says he just wants to pretend it's fine and pretend they're together when they both know they really aren't. "put on our fake smiles and keep wastin our time" is them pretending they're happy with the place they're in when really it's all fake. "Go out in style and come home in denial" is about how they would go out and see eachother and every time think they'd have a great time together and find out that they don't think it could happen. Then every time they'd make up and pretend it never happened. "i can't take any more of this make beleive romance it's killing my make beleive heart" is that they're pretending together and he just can't take it anymore. But he thinks it's better to act like they're together than to know that it isn't working. Great song. I think this is the best of the songs by Plain White T's.
