I believe that this song has a spiritual significance to it. With so much poverty and distress in this world, our spoiled lifestyles often go without appreciation or effort to do what's right. When he says, "You can't tell me we're forgiven," it's like he knows that we ARE forgiven, but it seems so crazy and surreal that we can be loved that much no matter what we do. It's easy for us to think that we have it so bad or get caught up in our own situations, but the singer is taking a step back and looking at the big picture. He says, "I say I'm sorry, and I'll sure change, you know this just could me someday," and he's getting a reality-check by really putting things into perspective. The beginning with "I'd like to think...the best is still to come" reminds me that there is a heaven after earth and "But who am I to judge what is sent from above" means that although the circumstances of this world are confusing and many of us aren't doing anything about it, he can't give up or assume things when he knows that the higher being is in control and we cannot understand His ways down here as humans.

This song is so beautiful and well-done, I'm surprised it never gained the popularity it deserved.
