I believe that this song has a spiritual significance to it. With so much poverty and distress in this world, our spoiled lifestyles often go without appreciation or effort to do what's right. When he says, "You can't tell me we're forgiven," it's like he knows that we ARE forgiven, but it seems so crazy and surreal that we can be loved that much no matter what we do. It's easy for us to think that we have it so bad or get caught up in our own situations, but the singer is taking a step back and looking at the big picture.
