I think this song is about a break up and how Person A "...won't try and reach..." Person B because they can see how distant they've become (physically or emotionally). Also the little part in the beginning of the chorus "This time..." shows how their relationship has been rocky in the past and Person B may have left Person A several times before, but back then Person A pushed through and "won back" Person B's "love."
