While I'm not sure exactly what the true meaning of this song really is, here are a few of my guesses.
Possibly, he could be talking about a relationship, or a recovery FROM a relationship, rather. He's having a difficult time getting over it while his partner seems to have already overcome it. In a way, he's asking them for help -> "Do you still believe I'll free myself?" / "Won't you just, break me out?"
