Tomate: "Babbino" does mean "daddy", as it's a diminutive for the Italian word "Babbo" ("father", "dad"). You're confusing it with "Bambino", Italian for "child" or "baby". Gorgeous song, anyway, especially when sung by the wonderful Callas.
