first of all, i must say that this song is amazing and i love singing it.

i feel as though it's about a person, who has lost a chance that i really wanted. mainly a relationship, and the easy way home would be to just end everything. and this person has become very bitter because of the loss.
it almost seems as though the one telling the story was in the room at one point cleaning up, and trying to help the other person. if we bear our souls to the world greater things will become of us.
