I'm not sure about that interpretation but it seems to me that it's about the end of the world indicated by deluge.

There is no more world The land is gone Water is all that survived that one

I try not to include any biblical connotations, but it does resemble the Flood as it was the God's punishment for people's past sins ("mistakes").
