when people think of portraits, they think of perfect families, i mean, many messed up families usually don't get professional portraits done. 'family pictures' would be the words used for that. when i look at a family portrait, i see smiles, and happiness, and togetherness, but what he may see is all the deciet and lies that everyone is showing. all of their smiles are fake, and upsetting to him.
like some of you have said, people are always curious about what makes others behave the way that they do, and family life has a huge effect on most peoples behaviors. especially when silence comes into play. it seems as if she's curious to know what is going through his head, but she can't seem to get in
