It sounds like he's battling himself between what's right and what's percieved as wrong. He may not necessarily be singing about himself, but by the sounds of it maybe it's about a man who's done everything right so far with the exception of one dilemna he finds himself in. I'd like to think the narration is of a married man debating whether or not sacraficing everything he's built with his marriage is worth taking a risk and finding love in someone he's grown close to. He's trying his best not to breakdown because although there are pros and cons to each situation, he can't picture himself without either people in his life.
