You know, I'm sick and tired of people talking this bullshit about Ben, that he's a horrible, abusive, nasty, hateful, resentful maniac, and that Amy's the poor, hurt, sweet, loving, forgiving person. Let me just say this: I do not KNOW every single detail about their relationship, and I can only base my viewpoint on what I know of.
Now, what I do know is that Ben has always said in countless interviews that he has absolute respect for Amy, and for the rest of the band, that he wishes her well and has no angry, hateful feelings towards her whatsoever. I can understand that Amy doesn't want to talk with him, but I think it's just plain UNFAIR that she makes it seem like he "hates" her and wants her to die and all that crap, because she is the one who keeps bitching about him, and all he does is say how much he "loves" and "respects" her. Which is good, I do not criticize that at all, but I think that Amy should do that as well, and not tarnish his public reputation by claiming he was abusive and hates her and SHIT like that. If she was in a bad relatonship with him, that's a fact, but she doesn't need to lie about him. He does NOT hate her, but it seems to me that she hates him. Recently I read a Kerrang! interview with her where she claims that Ben loathes her, and that Shaun Morgan hates her too. WHICH IS SUSPICIOUS. I have nothing against her writing a song about Shaun to make the dirty laundry of their relationship public, even though I don't think that's the coolest way to pay him back, but she makes herself look like the ditched poor little girl and makes Shaun look like an asshole. And I can perfectly undertsand his anger about Amy, but that does not mean that he "hates" her. Neither does it mean that Ben hates her, and she knows that damn well. Ben apparenlty called her several times and left her a few voicemails saying that if she wants to, she can feel free to call him, if not, then not, but he wanted her to know that he has made peace with himself, and with her too.
And what does she do? She uses his statements against him and claims the exact oppposite. She makes everyone think that she is so nice and sweet and forgives him "despite him being an asshole", and that he, on the contrary, "loathes" her. THAT SUCKS, and even though I try hard to understand Amy's statements, I just can't.
You guys all seem to believe this shit. I'm not trying to defend Ben for something I don't know about anyway, but I WILL in fact defend him from being considered some hateful big bad abusive bastard, becuase THAT IS NOT WHAT HE IS.
I am also not trying to make Amy seem like a bitch, but I'm sorry for having to admit that what she is currently doing to Ben and Shaun and apparently everyone else around her is nothing but MEAN.
There's no reason other than to gain attention and sympathy for making her ex-boyfriends seem like assholes who hate her, when they don't. At least I know that Ben doesn't hate her. AND I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT.
Amy obviously leaves all of you walking away with the wrong picture. Hell, even I would believe Ben's some abusive bastrad if I didn't know the truth.
I know very well that this site is about song meanings, but I think it is also important to keep people from believing some bullshit they hear about somebody else. Face it, Amy is the one who's bitter. If anyone hates anyone else in here, it's her.
Anyway, I hate it when people always refer to the person singing the song to the one who they talk about - I mean like "Amy is, Amy says, Amy wants, Amy thinks"..... please. Can't you just stick to "the 'I' in the song"? Everything's always just about Amy. I say FUCK THAT.
I totally agree that Ben Moody isnt entirely at fault with his actions, he felt it was time to move on and he did so, BUT, If your gonna yell at people for trashing Ben moody, dont turn around and trash Amy Lee, in my opinion, they are both extremely talented people who both equally deserve the same amount of respect from us. And it is rude to say anything disrepectful or spread any sort of gossip about either of them unless you have ACTUAL physical proof that this happened.

Personally I think that a lot more happened than what Ben told us in the Ev forum in 2010. Obviously more happened, but before you say that Ben has only said good things about Amy, I must remind you of 10.22 being all about Amy.

There's a lot neither of them talk about, and while I do think that Ben is making the better decision with not saying anything but good for Amy at this point, Amy doesn't talk about it to begin with. She's only said vague statements, like "We just went in different directions musically" and, "We wanted different things...

She's only said vague statements, like "We just went in different directions musically" and, "We wanted different things from Evanescence after Fallen". I've never seen an interview where Amy ever calls Ben an asshole. Especially recently, she dodges the question about Ben, whenever someone asks if she's spoken to Ben, her response is simply, "I don't want to talk about why, but no we haven't spoken."
I'm with you, I'm tired of Ben being made out to be this big psycho lunatic, but you can't blame that on Amy. She's said it before, the fans tend to make things more dramatic, which is totally and 100% true, when she could say as "I choose not to stay in contact with him for personal reasons," the fans will take that as "I choose not to stay in contact because Ben is a horrible person and hates me and all of you should, too!"
On the topic of the song lyrics, most of this is a metaphor. I doubt that Ben ACTUALLY held her down and screamed he wanted her to die, that could be metaphorical for "What happened has made me feel horrible," and because this was written closely to his departure, there are a lot of manic feelings still inside, everyone knows the feeling. When something bad happens between you and another person, you're both heated, you both hate each other. But it's been a decade now, they've both written songs about one another with similar context, but they've both matured by now.
Bottom line, I think there's a lot (obviously) they haven't told us, which is fine. But because of that we have no right to judge either of them, we don't know everything that happened, so we shouldn't be forming opinions on who was right and who was wrong. Bottom line.

Personally I think that a lot more happened than what Ben told us in the Ev forum in 2010. Obviously more happened, but before you say that Ben has only said good things about Amy, I must remind you of 10.22 being all about Amy.
