first off this song is the shit, it is me and my girl's favorite song (one of the few we can agree on) but to me it means that he saw a girl walking into where ever he was but was so timid to go up and say anything, and in the second verse he is describing how lonley he really is. maybe on the rebound of a bad relationship. i think he is being sarcastic when he says "Imaginary friends" and taken by the fall. because he didnt have anyone to bring him back to a happy state. but with the last two verses i think he finally go's out to speak to this girl and something dramatic happens and he dies, but that's just me. love to hear other opinions
