I could have died
Maybe I should have died
When I saw you walk inside
And as you shut the door
I put my eye back on the floor
When all I really wanted
Was to look some more
Does a wallflower play
Or does a wallflower stay on his wall?

You see, I live alone
But I've made my happy home
All my furniture is centered around my phone
I'm waiting for a call
My imaginary friends and all
Those who would never let me
Be taken by the fall

Does a wallflower know
When it's time he outgrow his wall?
Tell me does a wallflower know
When it's about time he outgrow his wall?

Time and time and only time has feelings for me
Maybe, maybe Father Time feels sorry for me
I knew when there was a time when I knew it all
Why don't I ever leave my wall?
Why don't I ever leave my wall?
Why don't I ever leave me wall?
Please, I don't ever leave my wall

You know that siren's getting louder
And these people are starting to crowd in on me
(All I smell and taste is garlic and gunpowder)
I shot the bad guy dead
But he got me in the head
With the girl of my dreams
She's mentioning to me how much I bled

Where does a wallflower go
When their flowers get pulled from this wall?
Though she says I'm brave and bold
She knows a flower cannot hold up a wall
I can't hold up this wall any longer
Any longer

Because all I have is time and time and time
My only friend, time and time
Please some more time

And I think it's over
I think it's over

the first time i heard this sonih ad just ended a year relationship. the part "all my furniture is centered around my phone" made me realize how so many times in life ppl will sit around a wait for the phone to ring. which is pathetic. u need to make things happen. And how this song builds, and then he brings it back down in the end, amazing. smart lyrics. i love this band.

This is my favorite song in the world, which is why I posted it here. It makes me think of the person I'm in love with. He says the first verse is exactly how he would describe the first time he saw me. :)

first off this song is the shit, it is me and my girl's favorite song (one of the few we can agree on) but to me it means that he saw a girl walking into where ever he was but was so timid to go up and say anything, and in the second verse he is describing how lonley he really is. maybe on the rebound of a bad relationship. i think he is being sarcastic when he says "Imaginary friends" and taken by the fall. because he didnt have anyone to bring him back to a happy state. but with the last two verses i think he finally go's out to speak to this girl and something dramatic happens and he dies, but that's just me. love to hear other opinions

The way I hear this song, the singer is depressed over a failed relationship and ends up staying home all the time feeling sorry for himself hoping that she'll call him back. By doing so he alienates all his friends he had. He knows he should do something to change but is unable to do so. Eventually he takes his own life. Hard to express how I feel about this song in words, but it is a powerful song like many of Caroline's Spine's songs and a reason why this band is so great yet underrated.

I use to ponder every time I hear this song back then of the things about what will going to happen in my life 10 years from now cause I was like exactly the guy who's in that song who's eternally sad all the time! I don't know what's wrong but I think I am a wallflower

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
