I think this is speaking about the way that her own abused and damaged soul still can't resist but to reach out a hand to her abuser...when he is the one to feel ridiculed and small. Very insightful and compassionate.

Finally somebody mentions that! That's one of my favorite parts of the song. It's so human and real. Like she knows the person is this way because of someone else, and they've just followed the chain of abuse.
