Anyway... Yeah this song is about friendship, no doubt about that... is like always sticking up for other person, always keep being true to one another. And the song explains just what true friendship is... many people will try to tear them apart, to persuade them to fail one another, but "It doesn't matter what they tried to say/you were always there for me".
I kinda get the sensation that is a good-bye song, that he has to leave, so is like saying "This is not good-bye yet, you will meet me one day and everything will be much brighter".

I've been there... missing a friend is one of the hardest things and it takes time to get used to it... so is basically saying that he is alright now, but then he heards this song that remind him of some many things that he fades away.
