there has never been a government that ever existed (or will ever exist) that did not use force, fear and violence to sustain itself.
thus, if you are an idealist (or just believe that we can work for progression and change our own fate), then anarchy is the ideal we work toward because violence and fear will never bring happiness to all.
OH, and anarchism started waaaaaaaaayy before punk rock...so check out stuff like "emma goldman's mother earth" and legit stuff before wearing your fucking anarchy patch little ignorant american kid.
