Interesting, I always thought the song was about (in this case) a woman who assumes their relationship is more than it really is. In other words, he's saying "just b/c I talk to you, that doesn't mean I'm in love with you."
Quite the opposite, the desperate denials and emotional tone of the vocals clearly shows, to me, that it's about a man afraid of being in love and trying to deny his feelings.

@twcfan92 it can work both ways too Ive known guys that fell too fast too soon .. dated one and after a few dates he said he was falling for me and after less than a month together he was talking about getting engaged .. red flags for me .. i called it off a few weeks later ... some guys are too much too soon its not just a girl thing ..
