Actually, it sounds to me like she's being sincere. She's realized that he's not Mr. Right, so she's leaving. That first verse says it all. She saying she game him plenty of time to "find himself," so now she's leaving and not looking back ("Got a lead foot down on my accelerator and the rear view mirror torn off 'cause I ain't never lookin' back."). |

I hate this song. While it's great that he wanted to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11, It's sad that Alan, like Puff Daddy before him, is capatalizing on the tragedy of others. What's even sadder is that he got a lot of awards for this song! But then again, maybe I'm biased b/c I think of Alan Jackson as the Keanu Reeves of the music industry. His songs are so monotone. Snooorrr.... |

This song is obviously about a mother's love for her daughter. Hense words like, "nothing you confess could make me love you less" and "hey, why you got to hide?
I get angry too when I'm in love like you" and "I'll stand by you...won't let nobody hurt you." If it's about romantic love, then, to me, it's about a guy who's completely helpless emotionally, so his wife/girlfriend has to be his backbone. And if that's the case, then that's just sad. |

Interesting, I always thought the song was about (in this case) a woman who assumes their relationship is more than it really is. In other words, he's saying "just b/c I talk to you, that doesn't mean I'm in love with you." |
