but i think davey's talking from the position of someone who has a lot of regrets
somebody who's been hurt a lot before.
where he talks about breathing out loud and biting his lip, it sounds like he's trying to stay as quiet and safe as possible. runs long on a broken lung is just this declaration of how he can still live even though he's been hurt. or so i figure.
