I like that part because he's telling God that his past and his shame hold him back, and keep him in bondage. he tells God if He will take away these chains, he'll seize the day and take the freedom that God offers.
I like this song because as a Christian I've had to deal a lot with the "chains of yesterday". I've messed up a lot in the past, and I feel like I pay the consequences for it all the time. But that's why God's grace is so awesome. Because I could never do anything to deserve that much love. I'm the least worthy person on the planet for redemption, but it's not about being worthy. that's what's so awesome. while we were still sinners, Jesus loved us so much that He would die for us. He died for everyone. Even those people that spit His name out on the sidewalk... there's no reason or explanation in it except that it's by total grace that we've been saved. I can't NOT have reverence for that. And I'll keep living for the day that I'm with Him.
