I saw Tori Amos on 20/20 a few years back. She explained this song was written to give voice to her inner rage at being raped. "Cause sometimes I said sometimes I hear my voice,I hear my voice, I hear my voice, And it's been years silent all these years". That is saying she was silent about it but not anymore. "Years go by will I still be waiting, For somebody else to understand" Well plenty of women hear and understand!!!

I don't believe that interpretation will fade because most of admirers of her songs felt some romance and many special loving emotions in her songs-that is true! And pain and dark sensations too, as well. I really purely do not want her to cross this all out now with new "explanations". I do understand I may have not understood but none the less there is much more meaning there. And the lyrics perhaps a little absurd and not so significant as the melodic line do not hint at the theme mentioned here. Sorry, I really love this song and much more what world and true mysteries it once opened for me.
