Actually what the song is about (and this is from Dryden himself) is having doubt in his religion and asking for answers and saying God if you exist please forgive me for not having faith in you, but give me a sign or something that you're there. He uses bible references in the song to illustrate the religion he's talking about. This is one of my favorite AAF songs, and one I can relate to.
