Whenever I hear this song I totally feel Billy was singing about Kurt Cobain. "Somewhere he pulls hair down, over a frowning smile". Billy was trying to show how shy and how much Cobain wanted NOT to be in the spotlight but he tried to hide it because he wasn't happy at all. That's what I get out of it. Love this song.
@y2doggy I always thought it was about Trent Reznor. The phrases "The endless drags of a death rock boy " (suicidal lyric themes) and "in your sad machines you'll forever stay" (industrial music) always made me think of Nine inch nails. Maybe they were kinda rivals. I always remember an interview to Reznor in Rolling stone circa 96~97. He said he wanted to be "Always one step ahead of Billy Corgan".
