Concertina Lyrics

In denial,
who will come clean all the ravenous debris?
In disguise
Sideswiped by penance cerecloth sentencing
This scapegrace will pay, my barking harangue…
Are you listening?
On the 14th you stole, what hasn't grown old
In denial,
file this under a bridge that he can't leave

Will those shadows glare?
From that blank-rimmed stare in a vacancy hush

Aunque me dejastes ahogando en el mar
Acuestate en la tierra de la realidad de tu sueño
Manos me recuerdo,
Solamente a ti te odio
Yo ya me voy
In denial
Who will clean up all this ravenous debris?
In denial
File this under a bridge that he can't leave

And the storyville sawbones couldn't tell
the prescription to mend
all the broken wills in the white lie ward
Don't you pretend
Tangled in thorns
To walk unborn

And this debt will collect
all the sickness that is left

Suddenly drives up
Sentencing valley
Count all the handshakes
Syringe overflows

Tangled in thorns
To walk unborn

And this debt will collect
All the sickness that you've set
And this debt will collect
All the sickness you've set

And this debt...

So from the interview it seems this song is The Mars Volta's way of saying "F-ck you" to Ben who was in At the Drive-in for pushing Julio Vanegas far enough that he committed suicide.

The Adam is correct on that. Does anyone else see weird charachters in place of where quotations should be. Well i really came here to explain the spanish portion of it, its a little off but a loose translation and interpetation is "they go 'you left me drowning in the sea' to that site on the ground and the reality of your sound hands, my only rememberence of you is the hatred I have for you" Its not word for word but the meaning of it I think is pretty correct.

The "word" "HARANGUE" um i think its supposed to be spanish but thats not the correct word. Haragan is the closest thing to it which means lazy and then haraganear is to be lazy. I dunno tho. There it is tho...oh yeah THIS SONG IS AWESOME

a harangue is something you crave for

Not Valid

Hate to say this but you're both wrong. A harangue is a verbal condemnation of somebody. The whole verse essentially reads, "the scoundrel will hear this condemnation...are you listening?" It makes sense within the context of the song.

Who do you like better, The Mars Volta, or Sparta?

Cover art for Concertina lyrics by Mars Volta, The

What a fucking question eh? Me? Personally? The Mars Volta. But I wouldn't say a bad thing about Sparta. Immensely looking forward to them at Leeds. Shame The Mars Volta pulled out. That would have made the line up considerably more amazing than it already is. I'm sooooo excited. This song is amazing by the way. In case you all didn't realise that already. Which - believe me - you did!

That is a broken question. I think The Mars Volta is the better of the groups, simply because the sound they produce is not only new, but cutting edge. While sparta is no doubt unique, it's not exactly rare...ya know?

dont forget that The Mars Volta also sound unique

Harangue is English and has nothing to do with the Spanish form of lazyness. It means a speech given with strong feeling; it's synonym is tirade.
