Born Of Frustration Lyrics

Wooooowooooowoooowooo
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
All this frustration
I can't meet all my desires
Strange conversation
Self control has just expired
All an illusion
Only in my head you don't exist
Who are you foolin'
Don't need a shrink but an exorcist
Lalalala
lalalala
lalalala
la
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
Show me the movie of who you are and where you're from
Born of frustration
Caught upon the webs you spun
Where's the confusion
A vision of what life is like
Show the movie that doesn't deal in black and white
Stop stop talkin 'bout who's to blame
But all that counts in how to change
Stop stop talkin 'bout who's to blame
When all that counts in how to change
Lalalala
lalalala
lalalala
la
All this frustration
All this frustration
Who put brown owl eyes on a butterfly's wings
All this frustration
All this frustration
Who gave the leopard spots and taught the birds to sing
Born of frustration
Born of frustration
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
Wooooowooooowoooowooo
I'm living in the weeds where nothing is the way it seems
Where no one is who they need to be
Where nothing seems that real to me
'Bout time we filled our lives
Upon the walls of gold no solid ground
The world is spinnin' endlessly
We're clinging to our own beliefs
Born of frustration
Born of frustration

Wooooowooooowoooowooo
Wooooowooooowoooowooo

I love this song. Really uplifting melody, but with deep and insightful lyrics at the same time. \n\nFor me, it’s about how we’re born into a world where we’ve evolved to always want more. It’s impossible to meet all of our desires so we’re in a constant state of frustration. \n\nThe song seems to resonate with the Buddhist principle that our suffering comes from our desires. Our desires are created by our own egos. We all have internal conversations with ourselves, generally about the things we want, who we are and how we should be. \n\nWe need an exorcist to extract our ego because of the internal conflict it causes. The judgements it makes forms a picture that we hold of ourselves, but this isn’t a true picture. The ‘movie’ is in black and white because it lacks nuance – it’s “I’m a good father” or “I’m not academic”. In reality, life is played out in a spectrum of grey – nothing is black and white! The web that we spun is created by our own egos and it is this we must free ourselves from to end the frustration.

I think this song is largely about religion. The most obvious clue is "Who put brown owl eyes on the butterfly’s wings" "Who gave the leopards spots and taught the birds to sing" There's several other lines that hint at religion as well. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Beautiful song, nevertheless. By far, my favorite song by James.

"Show me the movie Of who you are and where you’re from"

ever find yourself doing this? talking about where you were when Rocky came out, or yeah grade 4 was the year blah blah came out? This song is trying to show how synthetic and unnatural this is, and then .. "How can we build our lives upon No wall of stone, no solid ground" speaks for itself. Was Rambo a life altering moment that made you a better person? Of couurrrrse ... you need an exorcist not a shrink to repair your fractured mind filled with random hollywood images. But like all James songs, theres the underlying optimism ..

"Stop stop talking about who’s to blame When all that counts is how to change"

the naked sharp truth, and the solution. brilliant!

Can't believe there aren't more comments about the songs of the mighty James, who let's face it have stood the test of time. Half of the pap today won't stand the test of time, but no point complaining I suppose.

The intro to this song is awesome, the way it builds up. It's euphoric! And I can unfortunately relate all too well to the line:

'I don't need a shrink but an Exorcist.'

I think this song is about two people who really like each other but have never managed to get it together. There has been a lot of game playing "caught up in the webs you've spun." He's tried but can't get her out of his head "don't need a shrink but an exorcist."

There's a positive message to it which is they should forget what's gone wrong in the past and whose fault it is and just start from there "Stop stop talking about whos to blame When all that counts is how to change."

That's what it means to me anyway. I've played the song loads of time but it just dawned on me what it might be about as I am in the same situation at the moment.

I think its about feeling like the odd one out in a community, and feeling as though you have something good to offer but no means of letting it out. I also think its someone talking about what they see in themselves, though it doesn't represent what other people see, its just a negative view of oneself.
