This is one of her best songs. I mean, maybe you're just hiding and telling yourself something is what it is, when the reality is..you know it's not that at all. This song really speaks to that experience that many of us have at some point or another.
Its about talking to yourself out loud about a relationship and trying to see it from different points of view.

i've totally been in this position before.
she's in a relationship and she's unhappy, but on the outside everything looks fine, and the other person doesn't understand why she's not satisfied. she doesn't even understand why she's not satisfied, so she's constantly worrying about it and trying to talk to them about it and just making the problem worse.
she doesn't know what she wants ("sometimes even i have no idea what i need"), so she doesn't know how to tell this person what she needs from them. she just knows she's unhappy and she doesn't know why. so she keeps trying to tell herself that everything is okay when she knows it's really not. then she gets angry and frustrated when the real relationship doesn't match up to the way she thinks it should be.
