Just Watch The Fireworks Lyrics

Here you can be anything.
And I think that scares you.
I think that scares you.
I've been here before but only by myself.
What giving up gives you and where giving up takes you.
I've had and I've been.
Here in center frame, there's only air.
Just enough space to fit.
I said it out loud over and over but what do I know.
I said it out loud but it did not help.
I'll stop now.
Just so I can hear you I stay up as late as it takes, as long as it takes.
I promised I'd see it again.
I promised I'd see this with you now.

My opinion it is about simplicity. Something like watching the fireworks can put you in a trance, a moment where nothing else seems to matter, no matter what you're going through. Everything is so clear at that moment that anyhing is possible and the realization that everything is simple scares you becuase everything in your life was so twisted and complicated before. It's almost as though he's telling us that he knows that this pure moment is key in everybody's life and he's been telling us all along this is what is important and it's not until we reach that moment of true simplicity will we understand. My suggestion is on July 1st(for canadians) go graba blanket and someone you care about and head to the park, lay back, find the trance.

yeah, i think this song is a/b him helping someone deal w/ something that he's already gone through. He's trying to give them advice, but they won't listen to him. He's still going to do everything he can to help them, even if that means just listening and being there for them. He's watching the fireworks b/c he knows what's going on, but he can't stop it.

Everyone has their own opinion a/b what this song means. I think that makes the song even better because everyone can relate it to something in their own lives. It's a really beautiful song, like a lot of j.e.w's music. You can just feel the emotion so much.

Does anyone else notice the words being spoken behind the music starting at about 4:55 and on? If you listen really closely, it sounds like somebody is saying something for nearly the rest of the song. Any idea as to what it's saying?

i think this song is about an addiction to something. he's saying once you say that you have an addiction and announce it to the world then you are free to overcome it and be what you want to be. thats just my two cents.

I'm not sure what this song means...it goes from one direction to the next, but I think the closest thing to what I think is what's posted by livetheemolife...I think he's trying to help someone with their problems but they just won't listen...like when he says, "I've been here before, but only by myself" I think he's trying to help someone else through something that he himself has been through, but by himself and he's trying to tell them that being through it with someone there to help you is easier than to go through it by yourself, "I said it out loud over and over but it did not help," it seems like he was reaching out for help but no one was there to help him and he doesn't want his friend to go through the same thing he had to. It seems as if he could see this friend heading in this direction and that if he/she ever got in this situation that he'd be there for them, "Just so I can hear you I stay up as late as it takes, as long as it takes." I don't know if that's anything along the line of what you guys were thinking, but that's what I got out of the song...and in the meantime, "Just Watch the Fireworks." :)

Obviously, I am kind of partial to this song... As with most j.e.w. songs, I think this is really open for personal interpretation. I always saw it as opening and up and sharing yourself, even though it might be kind of scary. The great thing about songs is that you can find your own meaning in them. That's why everyone can relate to music.

You all realise that this is THE BEST EVER Jimmy Eat World song? Well, in case you didn't know you do now. This song makes me wanna cry and I'm like 21 yr old male. You might think what a pussy. But its songs like this that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Makes you wanna hold that special someone in your arms and never let go. Jimmy Eat World is worth all your tears and endearing love.
