the song is basically about the games people play in relationships. just act up for no reason, to get a response. at the end of the day the same becomes wearing and it just ends up ending a relationship when both parties were just playing, maybe.
My fave line is about knowing it was over when thrown out of car, something of an understatement, makes me laugh
As @historian said, the line "When you chucked me out the Rover at full speed" kind of changes the whole meaning of the song doesn't it? And as @maqsimillion stated, most of the song is the stupide games we play when we are young, pushing each other away and then running back to them. Then of course she tries to kill/hurt him and now things get serious.
