Dawn awaits a sleepless english town
Of coloured gray
Here I roam the streets without you
As summer fades away
Down in the city at nights
The cold wind blows
Wherever you may be right now
It must be getting late
You're probably asleep already
I am wide awake
Down in the city at nights "Don't be lonely"
So you've told me
Don't you worry now
Loneliness can be ignored
And time has shown me how
Down in the city
I'm missing you so much
Down in the city
Of coloured gray
Here I roam the streets without you
As summer fades away
The cold wind blows
It must be getting late
You're probably asleep already
I am wide awake
So you've told me
Don't you worry now
Loneliness can be ignored
And time has shown me how
I'm missing you so much
Down in the city

Cool song that really sounds dated now, but it's still awesome. About missing someone, who can't relate to the lyrics?
Distance causes loneliness. A long distance relationship. Or more likely, a relationship that was ended by her as she moved away. He is still holding on and somewhat bitter. Feels lonely but also out of pride says that he has learnt to live by ignoring his loneliness and she (who perhaps is still in touch with him as a 'friend') shouldn't worry.
I remember reading something in The Swing of Things (book). I think Paul was still in London, Morten and Mags had gone back to Norway, and Lauren was back in the U.S. This is just a simple song about being by himself without his friends.
