Jake Lyrics

I'm going as far as I can go, away from here,
Away from you, Jake, and the hole you've sunk me into.
I wish that I could belong here, with you, and just be,
But that's not all that I'm about.
Your life is built on accidents, like meeting me.
You write everything down in your grocery list - people do this.
Even insects buzz like airplanes, why can't we fly away?
I'm going as far as I can go.
Your dad died, cause his heart hurt, arking away his forty-five years,
Dragging your mom along.
I don't want that, neither do you. Neither do you.
If I am not fun, and I am not interesting,
Perhaps I am not interested in you, neither are you.
You can't stand in front of an oven, cause it's warm,
And the fumes are dangerous.
I'm going as far as I can go.
Away from here, away from you, Jake,
And the hole you've sunk me into.
I wish that I could belong here, with you, and just be.
But that's not all that I'm about to do.

whomever he is, he drags her down and while she wants to be with him, she wants more than that, like perhaps an actual ralationship instead of an accident or another item on a list, so she is leaving

this has always been somewhat of an anthem for me. it's a response to someone wanting you to do whatever they ask of you while making you conform to their rules. this is the song i listen to when i'm sick of it. when i have decided: you know what? i'm going to leave all of this behind. i'm being held back and i'm gaining nothing, and though i care for the person, it just isn't worth trying anymore.

"if I am not fun, and I am not interesting perhaps I am not interested in you,"

i love that. it seems when voicing displeasure with how a person treats me, often they come back with "you're not worth treating well/you're no fun," etc, and sometimes it's just like "fuck you, you're not exactly a prize yourself."

Malora, my interpertation of that line ("even insects buzz like airplanes, why can't we fly away?)is that even little things can have monumental effects at times, and that all the little things have just added up and she wants out. My favorite line of this song is "You can't stand in front of an oven if it's warm, 'cause the fumes are dangerous". Beautiful, isn't it?

"I'm going as far as I can go, away from here, Away from you, Jake, and the hole you've sunk me into."

She wants out of the relationship. He's not paying much attention to her, and the way they communicate is more like friends rather than something else. She loves him, however he's not showing many signs of affection. It's dragging her down.

"I wish that I could belong here, with you, and just be, But that's not all that I'm about."

She wants to stay with him. However, she's missing out on life sitting by the phone waiting for him to call, or just sitting there hoping that he'll drop by. That's not all that she's about.

"Your life is built on accidents, like meeting me. You write everything down in your grocery list - people do this."

They met on accident- Just strangers running into each other, exchanging numbers. The other line strikes me that she's trying to remind herself that he's human too. "People do this". She must remind herself, because she's almost forcing herself to justify his actions. "He's a person, he has a life, he'll come around eventually."

"Even insects buzz like airplanes, why can't we fly away? I'm going as far as I can go."

Insects buzz like airplanes- going off the comment that said "that even little things can have monumental effects at times.", She is referring to when she met this guy. It was a small, accidental meeting that turned into more. She just wants to be with him, but if she can't be, she's going far away from him.

"Your dad died, cause his heart hurt, arking away his forty-five years, Dragging your mom along."

His dad died, his mom killed herself. Now, she knows that Jake is slipping away from her, whilst they talk less and less. She doesn't want to hurt herself because he's dragging her down.

"I don't want that, neither do you. Neither do you."

She doesn't want to hurt herself because of him. He cares about her, he doesn't want that, either.

"If I am not fun, and I am not interesting, Perhaps I am not interested in you, neither are you."

She's telling herself that she's no longer interested in him, though she knows that she is. She thinks that if she's not fun or interesting enough for him to care about, maybe she isn't interested in him anymore. She is, she knows it.

"You can't stand in front of an oven, cause it's warm, And the fumes are dangerous."

This is a metaphor. You can't stand in front of an oven- She shouldn't spend time with him anymore. She should call it off. The fumes are dangerous- Although she might have a good time while he's there, when he leaves she just wants him more. Just when she was getting over him, he comes around, she falls for him harder. It's dangerous because it's hurting her, and like I said before, she doesn't want to resort to hurting herself.

"I'm going as far as I can go. Away from here, away from you, Jake, And the hole you've sunk me into."

It's an empty relationship. They keep saying that they love each other, though they're hardly ever together. He's sunk her down. She's in love with him, and he says that he loves her too, but he's never there.

"I wish that I could belong here, with you, and just be. But that's not all that I'm about to do."

She wishes she could stay there and be with him. She doesn't belong. "But that's not all that I'm about to do"- That line makes me think that she kills herself. She's left, but that's not the only thing she's going to do. She's going to kill herself.

i hope that i didn't overlook anything. ;-;
