Several possibilities here. I think that one possibility is that it's about people who believe in God even though He puts them through pain and suffering on earth. They think it's just a test of "endurance" and that the pain on earth will guarantee them happiness in the afterlife. However, this is just one possibility. It actually may not be an indictment of anyone at all; it may be a more outrageous/fantastic topic. It sounds like it could be about somebody who is sacrificing themselves to Satan or some sort of demon or malevolent god. In return, they will become "divine" themselves but in an evil sense. They will have supernatural abilities and they will be able to assist Satan or some other kind of malevolent supreme being in performing evil works.
