Dirty Walls Lyrics

so you feel that stain of dried up discussions without weight
It's that feeling you will not have to destroy
It's that feeling that you will not have to ignore
the dirty walls
So you've been plagued, but is everything okay
I cannot bear the shallow words they throw
It's that feeling that you will not have to employ
it's that feeling that you will not ...
it's got to go
this conversation is going nowhere
it's transparent as fuck
this conversation must be over
because all i see is mud

The way I see it, it's talking about people that you try to talk to, but are really shallow and can't think deeper than a puddle and how it's so much easier just to throw out the "shallow words" rather than thinking and absorbing things around you.... I dunno, that's what I gather from it.

yeah...it's about how stupid and shallow people are and how you can talk to someone and its just a retarded conversation that is going nowhere and its just making the world even more fucked up then it already is...

Definately one of the more straightforward songs OLP wrote back in the day. I think you guys hit the nail on the head, obviously. I'd like clarification on the title/chorus though. Dirty Walls? Great song.

the "walls" represent, to me at least, the realtionship you have with someone. a "dirty wall" is talking about the problems with someone that are in your face, like the "elephant in the livingroom" thing.

I think 'Dirty Walls' might refer to the old expression 'If these walls could only speak' or however it goes.

Yeah, it seems to be saying that the walls are dirty because of all the horrible things that are said in shallow conversation. Same thing with the line about all he sees is mud.

I think the "Dirty Walls" line is likening shallow conversations to throwing meaningless sh** up against a wall and having none of it stick. That's what I get out of it anyway. I think it's similar in spirit to Raine's "Talking is just masturbating without the mess" line from "Happiness & the Fish."
