She motioned to me
That she wanted to leave
And go somewhere warm
Where we'd be alone
I do not know what's going on
But I'm guessing it's an all night thing
Yeah, it's an all night thing
If it's an all night thing
Nobody is gonna make it end
And if it don't begin
Don't worry that I'll take offense
And if it's an all night thing
And we fall like a tear falling to the ground
I'll never come around
And you'll never hear a word from me
If it's an all night thing
I walked along, feeling at ease
And falling like rain uh uh
Into her scheme
She won't let on what that will be
Yeah but I'm guessing
Ooh, it's an all night thing
Yeah, it's an all night thing
If it's an all night thing
Nobody is gonna make it end
And if it don't begin
Don't worry that I'll take offense
Yeah and if it's an all night thing
And we fall like a tear falling to the ground
I'll never come around
And you'll never hear a word from me
If it's an all night thing
Yeah, it's an all night thing
Ooh, it's an all night thing
Yeah, it's an all night thing
Mmm
That she wanted to leave
And go somewhere warm
Where we'd be alone
I do not know what's going on
But I'm guessing it's an all night thing
Yeah, it's an all night thing
If it's an all night thing

It's about a guy who has sex with a girl, and doesn't know what she wants. He is confused as to if she wants to be together, or just let it be a one night stand. He wants her to tell him if she wants to be with him or if this was only a one night stand. If it is only a one night stand, he won't come around anymore, or mention it to anyone.
This song is about Andrew Wood's last night on Earth, last night using. It is about the girl who tricked him to shoot up for the last time, not about sex.
@killerv A woman didn't trick Andy into shooting up. By friend accounts, a man supplied him with the drugs.
@killerv I don't know about that, dude. I think @killerv might be on to something, altho I really don't understand how you pulled that from these lyrics. more clarity on your interpretation?
@killerv sorry, that first @ user tag from the last post was supposed to be for @rummage. my agreement towards the meaning and asking the clarity on the lyrics was meant for @killerv
@killerv @rummage @x83<br /> The woman WAS the heroin. Now listen to the words from that perspective. It'll blow your mind. Cornell was a genius.
this is my absolute favorite song of all time. i can't go one day without listening to it. i literally probably listen to it 50 times a day.
i didnt know this song was about andrew wood and his end, but i have to say ive always thought of this song as intensely romantic.
"i didnt know this song was about andrew wood and his end"<br /> @laniferous <br /> It's not.<br />
A LONG ARGUMENT, SOMEONE LEAVING FOREVER. THE NIGHT FEELS LIKE FOREVER.
It seems like this project was a tribute to Andrew Wood if the posters are true about this song being about Wood. I also think "Say Hello to Heaven" was about him too, I mean it's the first on the album and this one is the last...
Yeah, I see how this could be about andrew now... Well it's an all night thing not a one night thing, so I dunno if one night stand works so much.
how do you think it's about Andrew Wood exactly? what's your interpretation on it being about him specifically instead of a one night stand? curious
There's a little mistake to correct:
Don't worry that I'll that offense Don't worry that I'll TAKE offense
Makes me think of a companion piece to Mother Love Bone's own Crown of Thorns. Something about Andy, and his two main relationships... his girlfriend and his drugs. He was always trying to keep them separate... just read listen to Crown of Thorns. Makes sense, then, that this song would be as romantic sounding as it is. Afterall, we are talking about L'andrew the Love Child.
about a one night stand
