Alternate Route To Vulcan Street Lyrics
Sometimes I ponder
What if the Caspian Sea should merger?
Over my shoulder
With Irish lakes and Seoul suburbia
Abandon ship (X2)
Lift me up
High aloft to peace
I didn't know
That you would take it to heart
I didn't know
That it would break us apart this way
Too much
Too soon (X2)
Too much
Too bad
Goodbye
Yeah! Yeah!
What if the Caspian Sea should merger?
Over my shoulder
With Irish lakes and Seoul suburbia
High aloft to peace
That you would take it to heart
I didn't know
That it would break us apart this way
Too soon (X2)
Too much
Too bad
Goodbye
Yeah! Yeah!

Such a beautiful and yet depressing song. I particularly like the "Goodbye" part.
"The title is an actual road sign, right near the Canadian border outside Detroit. We'd taken a wrong turning in the van. It's quite a striking sign to be confronted with. It has no Trekkie connotations at all: it's very much of this earth. The music was written by Cian and Bunf on samplers late at night, and the rest of us played or sung over it. I think its one of the best sounding pieces on the album. It's a song about impending deluge – it could be applied to global warming." -Gruff Rhys
