Anderson Mesa Lyrics
Don't leave without intentions
Night's made up our my decision
Don't leave without intentions of ever coming back
Don't leave without intentions
Mind's made up my own decision
Don't leave without intentions of ever coming back
Vacation, you take them
If you wanted, you'll ask them
Alone, I'm outside
Red sky, I wait there
Snowfall above me
So new yet fading
Vacation, you take them
If you wanted, you'll ask them
Run around or jump the fence
Graveyard
Night's made up our my decision
Don't leave without intentions of ever coming back
Mind's made up my own decision
Don't leave without intentions of ever coming back
If you wanted, you'll ask them
Red sky, I wait there
Snowfall above me
So new yet fading
If you wanted, you'll ask them
Graveyard

I just think the lyrics are kick ass "Dont ever leave with intentions"..Hell ya!
this song is about a friend leaving and trying to get them to stay i guess. i think it's quite personal too, as the lyrics seem specific to a certain place (snow, graveyard...) and i think anderson mesa was a place near where jimmy eat world came from. i'm pretty sure that's right, anyone want to correct me?
well the band hails from Mesa, Arizona so maybe it's bout that.
hey, it's "Don't leave without intentions"- there's no 'ever'
um...ok...I think it works like this:
"Anderson Mesa" - a place in Arizona where the band come from
"Don't leave without intentions, don't leave without intentions. My mind's made up, make my own decision. Don't leave without intentions of ever coming back" - a friend has made up their mind that they're leaving. He wants whatever his friend wants to make them happy, but pleads with them to return and not forget about him.
"Vacation, you'd take them if you wanted you'd ask them. Vacation, you'd take them if you wanted you'd ask them. Vacation, you'd take them if you wanted" - it isn't a case of just wanting to be away, because if they wanted just to go away they'd take a vacation. They wants to be away for a long time, leaving this place behind.
"Alone I'm outside, red sky, I wait there, snowfall above me, so new...yet fading" - He obviously hasn't known the person for as long as he'd like to, as he waits for them knowing that this will be one of their last times together.
"Run around or jump the fence, graveyard" - he can either believe they will be together again so or admit to himself that the friendship is as good as dead (jump the fence, graveyard). The friend doesn't seem as concerned as he is.
If you disagree, please disregard. Mx.
I am completely blown away everytime I hear this song. I love the part about the red sky and snow. I will never forget a time right after I first heard this song that I was outside at about midnight and it was lightly snowing with a soft red sky. It just about killed me. I like how he uses the fading snow as a metaphor for the relationship he is losing. He just barely started his relationship and it was so new and wonderful to him. Yet, as the pristine snow fades, so does his prospect of love. He makes a desparate plea to continue his relationship by saying "don't leave without intentions of ever coming back." I also love the emotion he has when he says "alone I'm outside." After standing alone outside and watching the snow fall, he realizes that his relationship would forever be altered. As this reality stings, he flees his solemn position in the falling snow in search of a place where nostalgia wouldn't haunt him. He jumps the fence and is in a cemetery. How fitting, how utterly and completely perfect. This song rocks. It is so deep and so beautiful. The only constant is change. The only certainty is death. Static Prevails.
something just hit me...."first star i see" ended talking about static prevails and then i thought about clarity. "static prevails" (ie, the confusion previals), and then "clarity" (ie, understanding) Anyone ever thought of that??? i cant beleive i didnt before now.
anyhow, i think everyone is just about on about this song...i love when he sings "..yet fading..." for the last time and his voice gets that almost crying tone to it, then the hushed "vacation...you take them..." comes in. its amazing. so emotional.
and is it just me, or the last time he sings that "vacation..." line, does he say "...if you want them, if you want ME..." ?? anyone else hear that? that could make a lot of sense.
just about on about this song? am i losing it? i meant i think everyone is just about right on this song...thanks
