They all think I'm crazy
I think its nothing at all
Today
I'm feeling kinda lazy
So I'll be sleeping it off
Once again
Its kinda like a love song
Crazy old fashioned love song
Then she decides that the dogs
They belong inside
Its a neverending ride you're taking
I can decide for you, hey
Its kinda like a love song
Happening somehwere else, baby
Here there is nothing at all
Someday
I'll be somebody's love slave
For now I've got to be all to myself
And its kinda like a love song
Crazy old fashioned love song
Then she decides that the dogs
They belong inside
Its a neverending ride you're taking
I can decide for you, hey
Its kinda like a love song
We think he's alive but the flies
Make me wonder why
Its a neverending pile I'm raking
Chester's beside you and he's
Singing you a love song
And while you're finding your way home
Me, I'll be watching me a TV show (TV show)
And if the darkness is all you see
Well then you don't know what you're missing (don't know what you're missing)
Do you?
Well it's kinda like a love song, yeah
Then she decides that the dogs (she tells me they belong inside)
They belong inside
Its a neverending ride you're taking (just a neverending ride you're taking)
I can decide for you, hey
Its kinda like a love song (and I found out somebody was lying with him)
We think he's alive but the flies
Make me wonder why (leave me wondering why)
Its a neverending pile I'm raking
Chester's beside you and he's
Singing you a love song (singing you a love song)
They all think I'm crazy

It's funny, but I was listening to all my old pop albums, and this one stuck out at me, purely for the line 'For now I've got me all to myself/ and it's kind of like a love song.'
Here's my interpretation of the song:
Your brothers They all think I'm crazy
Her brothers think he's crazy for wanting to date a psycho like their sister.
I think its nothing at all Today I'm feeling kinda lazy So I'll be sleeping it off Once again
I think the singer is saying he doesn't really ntoice her craziness. And then he and his girlfriend got into an argument, and he's feeling kind of lazy, so instead of trying to fix it, like he usually does, he just decides to wait until things calm down.
Its kinda like a love song Crazy old fashioned love song
Then she decides that the dogs They belong inside Its a neverending ride you're taking I can decide for you, hey Its kinda like a love song
The singer is talking to himself, and saying 'Hey, she's taking you on a ride. Do you really need her? I know that there's part of you that wants to keep her, but let me make the smart decision.'
I like the 'It's kind of like a love song', because initially, I think it refers to him and his girlfriend and their relationship. However, it evolves in the next chorus.
The party's Happening somewhere else, baby Here there is nothing at all
He's talking about how he's let the girl go, so she's 'partying somewhere else' and right now he's aone in the silence.
Someday I'll be somebody's love slave For now I've got to be all to myself And its kinda like a love song Crazy old fashioned love song
I REALLY love this line. What I think the insger is saying is 'One day, I'll be in a relationship again. But for now, I can just spend time with myself.' And here the 'kind of like a love song' line changes- this time, he's just talking about himself. Now that he has some time alone, he can learn new things about himself and heal from his crazy girlfriend.
We think he's alive but the flies Make me wonder why Its a neverending pile I'm raking Chester's beside you and he's Singing you a love song
I think this verse is his 'smart side' talking again, about how he's been so burnt out from the relationship, and he still wants to get back with this chick, and he's lazy and sleeping all day and crying and can't get over it, and he's still singing her love songs.
And while you're finding your way home Me, I'll be watching me a TV show (TV show) And if the darkness is all you see Well then you don't know what you're missing (don't know what you're missing) Do you? Well it's kinda like a love song, yeah
This is the part of the guy that's depressed over the break up. He's watching TV, thinking about what she's doing right now. Then he thinks about all of her shitty behaviour, and her negative attitude, and thinks 'Well, if she can only see everything bad in life, why do I need her?' Except, he still wants her back. So the 'it's kind of like a love song' is ironic.

I agree with Inconys except I think that the ending is more deep. The lyrics "And while you're finding your way home Me, I'll be watching me a TV show (TV show) And if the darkness is all you see Well then you don't know what you're missing (don't know what you're missing) Do you? Well it's kinda like a love song, yeah"
I think it's put at the end of the song because it's the end of the relationship. He's finally done. When she comes home from partying, he will be somewhere else watching a show, while she will come home to an empty dark house and when he says "you don't know what you're missing" esentially is him.
ANNNND.
and the very end when he sings "and then I find out somebody was lying with him" I think he is the guy who is alive but the flies make him wonder why and that's because of this girl.. and he finds out she has been with someone else.
Anyway, just my take! : )

This song will always have a place in my heart...pretty corny i know, but if you read between the lines it can be pretty dark. The song, to me, is about a guy who's in love with a girl that isn't intrested in him cause he's the stay-at-home-kinda-of-guy, and she's the party girl. hence the ironic "it's kinda like a love song".
Then she decides that the dogs They belong inside - She believes that you gotta go out and party all the time and only dogs stay in.
The party's Happening somehwere else, baby Here there is nothing at all Someday I'll be somebody's love slave For now I've got me all to myself And its kinda like a love song - pretty easy to understand, he's saying he'll find someone that loves his lifestyle...but he's pretty beat up about the fact that she won't love him.
We think he's alive but the flies Make me wonder why Its a neverending pile I'm raking Chester's beside you and he's Singing you a love song - Now it get's dark..if you ever listen to the rest of the album u would know that he sings alot about coke (powder) the pile he's raking to get away from it all and he know's that chester is singing her a love song...instead of him.
And while you're finding your way home Me, I'll be watching me a TV show And if the darkness is all you see Well then you don't know what you're missing Do you? Well it's kinda like a love song, yeah - pretty basic. she'll regret that she never saw good things in him. while she's out and about having fun he's at home watching a t.v show and just chilling...being himself instead of something he's not.
Your brothers They all think I'm crazy - the people that see his affection towards her thinks he's nut for falling for a girl that is the total opposite of him...but he didn't care.
unrequited love. It's a song about trying to be in love with someone you can't have because of your lifestyles and addictions.

Okay.
So i'm thinking this song is about a guy who has gotten out of a relationship with a wild girl, and his acceptance of this reality has brought him to a surreal and bleak place. All motivation is gone and he is barely considered alive.
And in a way, this disgusting state of being is "kinda" like a love song. Most love songs are passionate in happiness or in heartbreak, and this is neither. It's pure apathy at having lost (or never had) something. But it has completely overtaken him, and in THAT ironic way, his apathy is kinda like a love song.
"Your brothers they all think I'm crazy I think it's nothing at all Today I'm feeling kinda lazy So I'll be sleeping it off Once again, it's kinda like a love song"
^They think he's crazy for being affected by her, because they don't get it. He's depressed and sleeping away everything.
"Then she decides that the dogs they belong inside It's a never ending ride you're taking I can decide for you hey It's kinda like a love song"
^She starts sleeping around with (inviting in) any scumbag guy (dogs). Him caring about what she does is just going to lead him on an endless ride of emotion... so he "decides" that becoming apathetic is the best way to be.
"The party's happening somewhere else babe Here there is nothing at all Someday I'll be somebody's slave For now I've got me all to myself It's kinda like a love song"
^He's not going to act like a party just to get her back. He is being his depressed self and letting it all be, because he knows it's useless. His loneliness is his own love song right now.
"We think he's alive but the flies make me wonders why It's never ending Pile I'm raking Chesters beside you and he's singing you a love song"
^He is technically alive, but for all purposes is really dead inside. He's not really getting anywhere. And "Chester" maybe refers to whatever random guy (dog) she's sleeping with.
"And while you're finding your way home Me I'll be watching me a TV show And if the darkness is all you see Well then you don't know what you're missing don't know what your missing, do you? And it's kinda like a love song"
^She's out partying but will be alone at the end of the day. He's just watching TV and accepting his singleness. Her lifestyle won't bring her happiness and someday she'll see that.
This was all my take on it. It's pretty similar to what others have said!

this crappy song will always mean so much to me, and when I used to hear it, it would annoy the shit out of me

This is one of the best songs ever from the 90's, no doubt. Sky was pretty awesome back then. Too bad no one really knew about them since they were just a little Canadian band. Anyways, this song has always and will always confuse me for the rest of my life. I still don't get it, even after reading some of the other people's interpretations.

i wish they were still around. sky and savage garden, two of the best pop bands back then.
