Backwoods Nation Lyrics
Calling all rednecks
To put down their sluggers
And turn their attention
From beating the buggers
Pick up machine guns
And kill camel-fuckers
Backwoods nation
Calling all doctors
Of spin and the smokescreen
To whip the new hate-triots
Into a frenzy
Of good versus evil
Ignoring the history
Of the backwoods nation
Ain't it a shame?
When due process
Stands in the way
Of swift justice
Calling all frat boys
To trade in their hazing
Their keggers and cocaine
And casual date-raping
For cabinet appointments
And rose garden tapings
Backwoods, backwoods, backwoods nation
To put down their sluggers
And turn their attention
From beating the buggers
Pick up machine guns
And kill camel-fuckers
Of spin and the smokescreen
To whip the new hate-triots
Into a frenzy
Of good versus evil
Ignoring the history
When due process
Stands in the way
Of swift justice
To trade in their hazing
Their keggers and cocaine
And casual date-raping
For cabinet appointments
And rose garden tapings

This is the coolest political song I've never heard (only read the lyrics). Still, it's got a bit of somthing that Rage Against the Machin and Bad Religion are missing. Well, maybe not Bad Religion......
i'd love to hear this song, if i'm correct, it's on a compilation cd or something. i'm sure david will be getting plenty of poop for dropping the "f bomb" on this song, but as with many of his songs, it's not from his perspective. and unless i'm wrong, david has said that his view on cursing is that if it's used to express something better, it's ok, but if it's used to put something down, it's wrong. well, the lyrics on this song are pretty good, i'm ready to actually hear the song.
yeah it's on the Jade Tree Compilation, 'Location Is Everything Vol. 1'.
yeh, this song is definitely amazing. i love david's sarcasm.
Something interesting about his dropping the "f-bomb" is when asked, he said that that is how he regularly talked, so why shouldn't he use it in his songs? I was a bit unsure of this because he never cursed at his shows, but then I read some other interview where he got mad and it was in there quite a bit. But good call fatagainstthin, as long as its for something good, who cares?
if you're a christian and you cuss, i don't think it's a bad thing. the end.
i just saw pedro live this week, and they did this song...it was amazing, especially since i saw them about 3 hours after we started bombing Iraq... :(
"We were on tour on September 11. We woke up in Chicago that morning. By September 13 I was really furious. I couldn’t believe the way we were responding to that event as a country. The indignation was so beyond me. The first verse and the bridge came out in four or five minutes. It was very cathartic for me. "- David Bazan
A correction
In line ten, "patriots" is actually a play on words, it's "hate-triots"
Also in line two it's "sluggers" not "sluggard"
Calling all frat boys To trade in their hazing Their keggers and cocaine And casual date-raping For cabinet appointments And rose garden tapings
love it
