Anything But Ordinary

For me, this song seems to be a lot sadder than many of the comments seem to see it.. Rather than being a celebration of being unique, I feel like she's lamenting her mundane life and wishing for something to change it, no matter what that something is (as in the line 'somebody rip my heart out and leave me here to bleed' - even if someone hurts her, she would accept that because she just wants to feel alive). Back when I was really young and I used to listen to this song (can't believe it came out in 2002, wow) I remember the first verses before the chorus would always make me feel really sad for some reason, I can't really explain why.. anyway, yeah, I can relate a lot to this song.

"I'd rather be anything but ordinary, please"... That is all 4 years of highschool captured in 7 beautiful words.

This song is so energetic. It just livens up the mood.

this is a theme song for me, really. i love the "be original!" meaning of it, and the guitar is very nicely done. yay.

.... "This world is a beautiful accident" ... that line is particularly awesome :Þ I can relate to this song, and she sings it with the <i>spirit</i> the words deserve to be sang in.

"To walk within the lines/Would make my life so boring/I want to know that I have been/To the extreme/So knock me off my feet/Come on now give it to me/Anything to make me feel alive" This has to be one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. "This world is a beautiful accident"...I know just what she means. It feels like she wrote the song to fit it to me, you know? This is my new theme song! It's wonderful! And as for the song's meaning: I love it. "Anything but ordinary, please." Definately unlike most songs that you hear these days! Energetic, lively, everything that you would want to blast on your radio on the weekends. I hate being called ordinary. I hate being run-of-the-mill. I want to be myself, not who everyone says I should be. "I'd rather be anything but ordinary, please" That's what the song's about. :-) And the spirit is <b>definate.</b> No question.

this song should totally be her next single...it's my favorite out of all the avril songs. it so describes me and most of my friends, and i love the beat. it's great when a song like this comes out...it makes me feel like other people could understand me, ya know?
