Spellbound (By the Devil) Lyrics
You have returned to the torture-chambers
To find peace among the rotting corpses
You have returned to the execution place
To inhale the smell of blood
Death and terror rules the land
We have been spellbound
By the Devil
You have returned to the hidden graves
Only you know about
You have returned to to face your victims
And feel sensation of violence once again
Death and terror rules the soul
You have been spellbound
By the Devil
Murderer, you have returned
To create fear and sorrow
Death and terror rules the land
We have been spellbound
By the Devil
To find peace among the rotting corpses
You have returned to the execution place
To inhale the smell of blood
We have been spellbound
By the Devil
You have returned to the hidden graves
Only you know about
You have returned to to face your victims
And feel sensation of violence once again
You have been spellbound
By the Devil
Murderer, you have returned
To create fear and sorrow
Death and terror rules the land
We have been spellbound
By the Devil

good reviews. i agree. its definitely a mirror of the concious during such acts as murder. apparently, one is spellbound by the devil.
Definitely the best Dimmu Borgir song ever. This song is about being under a trance of murder by Satan and doing his bidding.
A very dark song.. as depicted in these lyrics. It's a very good song, at least I think so. Certain parts are really dark and heavy and others are heavenly and melodic. Good stuff.
Yea this song is a very good song if you are angry and want something to sooth your anger. This song fucking rocks.

Listening to this song right now and loving it. i guess it's about a dude who's possessed and killing people and enjoying the sadism of it
The song is great.
The devil is a referrence to the devil in a bottle, a term for alcoholism, on this occassion an addiction induced by personal loss and regre or mistake. Dive bars are a place of rotten corpses.
The voicing of the track reflects the stages of grief. It begins in a dark and angry key with no resolution in sight, until it goes and unleashes it at the outro solo, probably the release of letting it all out that you drunk to suppress.
Black metal is the ultimate art form it seems
