Rehearsal Lyrics
It's priceless when you said you had to work late
When we both know you're at a motel
Here's the thing that's so much more depressing
Than the infidelities itself
Darling, you are so unoriginal
Each move, more obvious
Than the one before it
You know I've always said that I would kill you
If I ever caught you stepping out
But now I see I did not know the half of
What hatred and regret were all about
Darling, you are so unoriginal
Each move more obvious
Than the one before it
I guess I could be bigger but I'd rather make you pay
Darling you are so unoriginal
You'll see that I can be so unoriginal
Just like you
When we both know you're at a motel
Here's the thing that's so much more depressing
Than the infidelities itself
Each move, more obvious
Than the one before it
If I ever caught you stepping out
But now I see I did not know the half of
What hatred and regret were all about
Each move more obvious
Than the one before it
You'll see that I can be so unoriginal
Just like you

correction, line 2: "When we both know you're at a motel."
pedro the lion gone vengeful! <3
As the title of this song implies, it is a rehearsal. The wife is rehearsing the lines that she wants to say to her husband. She has known for a long time that he has been cheating on her. The next line is even more depressing. She calls her husband “so unoriginal, each move, more obvious than the one before it”. Her problem is not so much that her husband is cheating on her as the fact that he is just so boring. His unoriginality has led to her life of boredom, emptiness, and unfullfillment. This wife knows that she should be really upset with his stepping out. She always said she would kill him if he ever cheated on him. When she said that she would kill him, she had no idea what “hatred and regret were all about”. She truly hates him now. But again, not in the same way she thought she would. His unoriginality and apathy just simply bore her. She knows she could be bigger (and forgive his cheating), but wants to make him pay (because she has long since loved him and now downright loathes him). This song says a whole lot about our society. Adultery and cheating are not as painful as being boring. We live in a society that values entertainment and excitement. If you can not provide these things, you are not worth having around. Intellect has lost out to entertainment. A boring husband is worse than an exciting cheating husband. Our world needs God.
Well this song is written, i like how he made it where you can look at it from a guys point of view or a girls point of view...
Well the whole song is pretty self explanitory but i like the last few lines
I think its about a girl cheating on her boyfriend or husbund, which it is. The guys pretty much talking about himself at the same time though because of the last two lines "You'll see that I can be so unoriginal Just like you"
i think the "i can be so unoriginal just like you" is referring to her immenent murder. murder (looking at movies and pop culture) is the trite way of handling adultery and she recognizes this. she's just too vengeful to come up with a more original way to dispatch her husband.
i always thought the last lines were about how the person who's being cheated on would just cheat to get back at the other. i see babyunvamp's look at it, but when i saw it i immediately thought of revenge by cheating. is david that evil to murder? haha maybe...
to BMX ryan360, I am pretty sure it was the husband that was cheating, and its from the wifes point of view. since in "Priest and Paramedics" the wife killes the husband. and in "rehearsal" whe says " I guess I could be bigger but I'd rather make you pay"
whoops...i always thought it was "what hatred and revenge were all about.but listen to the 't' of regret....it sounds strangely like the 'ge' of revenge. Please agree someone!! x
in fact it sooo is revenge! especially with the following 'i guess i could be bigger but i'd rather make you pay'.
fuck yeah
