Shevanel Cut a Flip Lyrics
"This song is inspired by the movie "waking life". It¹s about how interesting and weird dreams can be. You can live any life you want in dreams and sometimes it seems better than life itself. The sentences are very random and sometimes don¹t seem to make sense. I did this on purpose because when you dream, everything is very random. So I wrote it like it was a dream. The subject of dreams has really interested me lately, and I have a newer song written focusing on that subject as well. -tommy" -------- www.betweentheburiedandme.com

before listening to this song, waking life was my favorite movie. the coincidences between my thoughts and thinking and btbam are too numerous to count and too close to my heart to share.

Your entire post sums up the entire way I feel about between the buried and me. So so many coincidences it's unreal. for example last night, i did some reading on certain herbs and plants that can induce more intense dreaming when you sleep and today i decided to listen to this self titled album (which I haven't listened to very in depthly)

I just finished listening to Shevanel cut a flip, when I decided to check out the lyrics so I could work out the lyrics to the harmony's at the end (no luck!) and I began seeing the similarities between the concept and context of this song and shevanal take 2, and of course the whole idea of dreaming and creating your own reality. And also finding someone else who seems to see many coincidences between their music and one's own thoughts and musings.
Other coincidence's off the top of my head include, my love for the movie mulholland drive and then seeing mentions of the Camilla Rhodes in songs... which would be too long for me to explain why this is so personal to me.
Just so good to hear that someone else feels such a personal bond to the band, on an almost metaphysical level.
I'm not sure exactly what the term "Shevanel Cut a Flip" means but Tommy mentions Shevanel and Plip in the song Mordecai (also an amazing song). On the website Tommy explains that Shevanel and Plip were a homeless person and his pet that he had met in some city that looked like the saddest, poorest beings on the planet but actually were some of the happiest beings that he had ever met. He is referring to Shevanel in the title of this song because even though he may have a sad reality, his dreams could be everything he ever wanted and perhaps that was why Shevanel seemed so happy.
The lyrics in quotations are taken directly from the moving waking life.
I've never seen waking life but based on descriptions it makes a perfect connection to the lyrics. I love this song because its insanely unusual and rare and in a way, balanced out. Listening to the first 3 1/2 minutes makes me think "man this song is brutal as fuck" because it's INSANELY spastic and while tommy is still a great vocalist, in the first 2 albums he had psychotic range! Anyway after my ears were raped by the intensity of the first few minutes, I was intrigued by a 6 minute ballad section, where the last sentence is sung beautifully. Do I think a 6 minute ballad is what you should hear after a 3 1/2 minute deathcore section? YES!!! Brilliant idea.
Also the second wake the fuck up sounds like "WAIT TO BURN YOUUUU!" lol. And the part after that where all the lyrics overlap is so awesome.
Ok, now after I've seen waking life, i listened to this song and most of it made sense. And during the movie I recognized some of the lines from this song. Waking life is such an unusual movie and mostly insane but in general I liked it. The funny thing is my mom HATED this song and walked out of the room after watching half an hour of waking life. It's a love or hate movie, but anyway, this song is even more badass.
