Hybrid Stigmata - The Apostasy Lyrics

The apparition of two faces in disgust
Invisible but yet so clear
Reflections seen by a fugitive
Trying to escape the looking glass
Blood runs from open wounds of false flesh
The one in front of the mirror exceeds the image
Eager to leave further but chained still

To crumble into such nothingness
A despairing fate, for your lies
To pretend is the lunatic's legacy
Privileged to bolt the nails of heresy

Born lifeless into a world of coma
As the chronic sufferer trapped in paradise lost
Missing insinuations of what life was meant to be
Angels and demons, a march man's bewildering hosts

(chorus:)
The charlatans and deceivers walk the line in prejudice
The narrow slits the veins in search for the crown
Profound impatience makes the blind struggle in stupidity
The paradox of the daily prayer, diffidence is Confiteor
Phenomena of ironies, cast the litany aside
How intelligible, blessed be the forgetful

Holding the banner high, unrestrained
Slowly abandoning the surface in contempt
Still in costumes to please the ways of living
Witnessing the details of defilement, intoxicating

Make sure to be pleased with the ways of your death
For in days of reckoning and when the twilight torn is ticking
Elysium is halfway and as an answer to the plea
You're destined to yield fragments of Hell in return

Leave unnoticed with the perfect conscience
With the strength of the spiritual eye
Spirits of the token unchained and free
Recover from the philanthropic macabre frenzy
The pale dove grins, black at heart ready to flee
Demon to some, angel to others

It's about someone leaving Christianity behind.

The mirror is an illusion held up by a church, and the one in front of it exceeds the image by understanding that it's not real. He doesn't want to pretend anymore, because to him, faith is a "lunatic's legacy."

There are also references to Jesus himself, like "Blood runs from open wounds of false flesh" (how Christianity drives home the point of Jesus bleeding on the cross) and "The narrow slits the veins in search for the crown" (Jesus was called the "King of Kings," and the crown is a common Christian symbol). So this guy sees his Christian brethren metaphorically wounding themselves in search for reconciliation with their savior, and to him, it's all futile. He doesn't want to live like them.

The part around 3:00 with all those sweet-ass violins represents his "intoxicating" departure from the church. He's finally free to live and die as he sees fit, and not under the doctrines of Christianity.

In the end, he's a demon/angel "hybrid." To those in the church, he's a demon who yields fragments of hell. To others who may have been afraid to leave Christianity, he's an angel who gives them courage.

My Interpretation

I always thought of this song and lyrics as a metaphor for Satan and how he once was an angel and is now a demon to some. He broke away from the chains of God and freed himself and in a way, inspires others to not be afraid.

I also see it as from a person who is coming to terms with how poisoned and full of lies Christianity is. Most people blinded by religion, suffer and use this one and only life struggling within themselves all for the afterlife that probably doesn't exist. They are missing the point of what life is meant to be. Trapped in paradise lost. The person in the song is finally becoming spiritually aware and thus becomes free from the lies and bullshit.

That's just my thoughts/interpretation for this song.

The box that you just typed into well it says something and I guess I'll spell it out for you : A-D-D Y-O-U-R C-O-M-M-E-N-T-S. So we can add any comment we want to regardless if it's the song meaning or not.

Yeah, and below where it says "A-D-D Y-O-U-R C-O-M-M-E-N-T-S" it asks: "WHAT DOES THIS SONG MEAN TO YOU?" Why do you answer with something as empty headed as: This song rules!

Who CARES if you think the song rules. NO ONE! Do you realize the ONLY importance of your post is TO YOU ONLY. So, its SELFISH to type that comment "this song is kool", without following it up with WHY you think the song is kool.

PUT A LITTLE MORE THOUGHT INTO YOUR POSTS, CHILDREN!

first off, necronic, stop being suck a fucking prick, people are allowed to share what they and and you have no right to tell them what they can or cannot say, you are right about one thing, i dont realy care what they think of the song either but dont get all pissy because they feel like sharing what they think of the song.

enough of that, i think this is an awesome song, to me, they are saying that if you are of two different races (or alien or whatever) you will be brought down by racism, discrimination, prejudice and all of that kind of stuff just because of what you look like.

\m/. long live the kings of the carnival cration! .\m/
