What's so wrong?
Why the face so long?
Is it over?
And where you going that you no longer belong here?
And distance tells you that distance must come between us.
Where have you been, luv?
When the mistake we made
Was in never having planned to fall in love, luv
Singing this song, singing along
Makes it easier for me to see you go
But in doing so, by letting you go
It only serves to show me that I'm still in love with you
So what's so wrong?
Why the face?
So long
Are you changing?
And where you been to that you no longer remember?
And distance tells you that distance must come between us.
Where have you been, luv?
When the mistake we made
Was in never having planned to fall in love, luv
Singing this song, singing along
Makes it easier for me to see you go
But in doing so, by letting you go
It only serves to show me that I'm still in love with you
It's just a chance we took
having never ever planned to fall in love, luv
luv
Why the face so long?
Is it over?
And where you going that you no longer belong here?
And distance tells you that distance must come between us.
Where have you been, luv?

Fran wrote this song about his girlfriend while their relationship was rocky and asked to her listen to it. I guess she left for a while or he did but when he finally did talk to her again he asked her what she thought of it and she just blew it off. But Fran says that he knows it got through to her because he could just tell. This is probably my favourite song off of The Man Who- which, as MDMaster said, is the best Travis album and I completely agree.
This song is the best and most poetic on THE MAN WHO. It is very Beatle-y and well written while still original. It is definitely my favorite track. It is a painful ballad about love and the confusion of losing it. It hits on emotions we have all felt and this is one of ten reasons (ten tracks) why this should be album of the year.
Well I guess it's a bit late to be the album of the year, still I think it's the best Travis album. And I luv this song too...
the man who is one of the best albums i own, easily better than the other 2 travis albums, it came out in 99 though so i dont think its gonna make album of the year. i dont personaly think this song is the best ont eh album, though this is a good song. the only thing i dont like about travis is that their songs are so simple that u cant really read any deeper meaning into the lyrics. they are too straight forward. not that that is bad but it means i cant really post clever messages on this site.:(
This song i obviously about Luv:P but guys, is it true that there is actually a hidden track on The Man Who?!?
Yea the hidden track is called Blue Flashing Light. This song is really cool, great music.
I think this song is about distance - whether it is actual distance in a long distance relationship or just distance between a couple. "And where you going that you no longer belong here?" i think in that line "belong here" refers to in his heart - relating to the fact that no matter where she's going she will still belong there.
To me this song reminds me of my and my ex. We had a rocky relationship to start with, always bickering and falling out but then all of a sudden it just all worked out and we fell in love. Recently we both moved away to uni on opposite coasts and it has fallen apart. (and distance tells you that distance must come between us) We went back to our origional fighting and bickering and it has recently ended. Neither of us want this but it's just the way it happened. Love makes it harder really when the circumstances are difficult (The mistake we made was in never having planned to fall in love luv)
Distance really does test the love between 2 people to the max. It really lets you know the extent of the other person's desire for you. It's unfortunate most relationships are based on physical intimacy rather than going beyond that.

this song is on Stephanie Meyer's (the author of the Twilight series) playlist for the book Eclipse. There it's intended to be from the character Jacob's point of view.
In the story Jacob and Bella fall in love, but Bella loves Edward more and ends up choosing him over Jacob.
There's a terribly sad scene where Jacob and Bella say goodbye to each other and this song fits it perfectly.
They are still in love, and that was a mistake they didn't mean to make and it just makes it incredibly hard on both of them.
