Behind The Smile

What an excellent song. The guitar solo at the end will blow you away. To me the lyrics are about the disappointment and the inevitable lack of peace within in a fall after what you thought would lead you to peace. The end of a close friendship, the loss of faith, the death of a loved one.

I agree with Aerion on that this person has lost something extremely important to them, although when I first heard this song it came across as a suicide song to me. She's full of self hatred and grief and by "swallowing these pills" she's ready to give it all up. But also on that note, those pills may be some sort of anti-depressant... excellent song either way.

The first part is about a very sad person who have lost the meaning of her/his life.

the 'eat the pain' part is about not to show your sorrow.

Behind this smile, i feel nothing.-> I smile, but it's fake. I reach out to touch, but i'm not really there -> i'm pretendig everything is fine, but it ain't.

This reflection in the mirror Can't reality be me I see no connection With who I wanted to be. -> He don't recognize himself anymore. He isn't who he used to be. I think his love died away from him.

Drink another glass Swallow these pills. -> if im not wrong, is alcohool and drugs a bad mix? but it would help to get back to the one you love.

But he don't die. That's the bitter part at the end of the rainbow. So he keeps on smilieng (the sweet)

The last part seems to be about him feeling alone. Liker very alone, I've felt it too.. Alone in a crowd :/ horrible.
